The Historic Lewes Antique Shop at Thompson Country Store
Stepping inside onto the sturdy, white oak planks of the Thompson Country Store is like taking a step back in time. Originally constructed just north of Milford, Delaware, around 1800, this pleasantly bustling space is a quintessential example of the shopping experience Delawareans experienced in the pre-Department Store era. Operated first by the Hill family and later by the Thompsons, this shop was still serving its community and a growing stream of tourist traffic along Route 1 until 1962, when Harvey Thompson donated it to the care of Historic Lewes after having operated it for 45 years.
Fittingly, this charming store with its built-in shelves and careworn counters continues to serve as a place of business, now as the Historic Lewes Antique Shop. With carefully-selected curios at unbeatable prices, our Antique Shop is the perfect place to find that perfect keepsake of your visit. Even better, 100% of your purchase goes back into supporting our mission of bringing the past to life, now and for years to come. Be sure to return often, as fresh items arrive regularly to fill every nook and cranny, ensuring that each visit is a new discovery!
